In the latter half of the nineteenth century, J.G. Worlein handcrafted Worlein Familywood furniture and caskets. In 1894, his son, J.J. Worlein graduated in the first class of licensed embalmers in Minnesota. In 1946, Ward Worlein came to the area and operated funeral homes in Austin and Lyle. His sons, John and Paul Worlein, joined the firm later. In 1990, the Blooming Prairie chapel was purchased and expanded. With the present facility in Austin completed in 1993, we continue to be a family dedicated to serving others.

Over 100 years have passed, and Worlein‑Hoff Funeral Homes remains a family-run business—one of the oldest continuously operated funeral service families in Minnesota. We were here yesterday, we are here today, and we will be here tomorrow to serve you.

Today, Worlein Chapel is owned and operated by Tyler and Emily Hoff. They purchased the funeral home in February of 2021 with a commitment to providing the highest level of service to families in our community.



Tyler and Emily also own and operate Hoff Celebrations, with locations in Osage, St. Ansgar, and Northwood, Iowa. Together, these locations are part of Hoff Celebrations—a unified team serving families across southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. While our reach has grown, the people you know and trust remain the same.
