Shirley Weber

March 13, 1929 — June 8, 2021

Shirley Dawn (Bothun) Weber, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed into the loving arms of her Creator our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.  She leaves us here but our loss is her gain as she is in the presence of pure love in her eternal home.

Shirley was born March 13, 1929, to Alfred and Mabel Bothun in Lanesboro, Minnesota. She graduated from Lanesboro High School, moved to Rochester, MN and began working as a secretary in an insurance office.

She married Lyell Weber of Austin on April 10, 1949. They were married for 45 years. She continued her insurance career at a bank in Austin, eventually moving to a banking position until her retirement. Upon their retirements, Shirley and Lyell moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1991 as they both loved to golf and desired warmer weather to extend their golfing season. During the summer they would return to Austin and rent an apartment for 3 months so they could enjoy seeing their children, grandchildren and friends.

Shirley loved golfing in the 18-hole golf league at the Ramsey Golf Course and the 9-hole golf league in Hot Springs Village. She was an excellent bowler as well.  She was also active in the Church Circle, Potters Clay and the Garden Club in Hot Springs Village. Perhaps her and Lyell’s greatest joy was dancing at the American Legion most Saturday nights…..boy could they “boogie woogie”.  Shirley enjoyed shopping excursions with her daughters and was always the best dressed person in the room.

Shirley moved back to Minnesota to be near her children in October 2015 and resided in Maple Grove, MN until her passing. During her life, her children cherished the love she continued to show to her family. Her children nicknamed her the “energizer bunny” as she was always in constant motion, always helping, washing our windows, planting in our gardens, and helping in any way she could.

She is preceded by her wonderful husband of 45 years; her son-in-law, Larry; a special friend, Ed Witzig; her sisters, Marcie, Bonnie, Virginia, Annabelle, Blanche, Vivian, Rose, Helen, Millie; and brothers, Virgil and Norris.

She is survived by daughters, Pamela Lundquist of MN, Debra Lyons (Mike) of MN, Tami Falk (Ken) of WI; and son, Richard Weber (Sharon) of OK; sister, Joanne Sliter; brother, Al Bothun; sister-in-law, Janice Yanzer; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
