Wayne Douglas Nystel

Wayne Douglas Nystel, age 68, of Mapleview, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Wayne was born on November 6, 1957, in Austin, Minnesota, to John and Virginia (Mauer) Nystel. He grew up in the Austin area and attended Austin High School. Wayne made his home in Mapleview and worked for several years at Super Fresh.

Music was one of the greatest joys in Wayne's life. He loved listening to music, writing songs and lyrics, and playing music whenever he could. His passion for music brought him comfort and happiness throughout his life.

Wayne is survived by his brother, Don (Mary Jo) Nystel; brothers-in-law, Bob DeVriendt and Terry Sprandel; sister-in-law, Barb Schreiber; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Nystel; brothers, John, James, Robert, and David Nystel; sisters, Dawn DeVriendt and Linda Sprandel; and nephew, Terry Michael Nystel.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Friday October 2nd at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
