Wayne Harvey Brandt

Wayne Harvey Brandt, age 82, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Methodist Campus. Wayne was born May 26, 1943, in Austin, Minnesota, to Harvey and Anna (Stender) Brandt. He graduated in 1961 from Austin High School and worked in engineering for 29 years at Austin Public Utilities prior to earning an early retirement where he and his wife Francie took advantage of travelling and spending time with friends and family. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who loved duck and pheasant hunting, fishing, and spending summers at Pine Mountain Lake near Backus, Minnesota where he made numerous friends.

Survivors include his wife, Francie of Austin, Minnesota; sons, Tim Brandt of Austin, Minnesota and Ryan (Carrie) Brandt of Center City, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Brooklyn, Anna, Gavin, and Sophia; brother, Robert (Sonja) Brandt of Savage, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Anna Brandt; brother, Chuck Brandt and sister-in-law, Diane Brandt.

Wayne and Francie lived their lives by treating their family as friends and their friends as family. They believed that the people in your life were more than acquaintances, and they developed bonds with Tim and Ryan’s friends through their grandchildren’s birthday parties and other get-togethers. It was not uncommon for Tim and Ryan’s friends to stop by to see Wayne and Francie by themselves. It is a value that is carried on to this day by Wayne’s family.

A private family interment for Wayne will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin, Minnesota. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
