Wanita Pfeifer

Wanita Aileen Pfeifer, age 79 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin. Wanita was born in Austin, Minnesota, to Oscar and Agnes (Freiheit) Huffman on May 8, 1940. She attended Austin Public Schools. On November 25, 1956, Wanita was united in marriage to Eugene Pfeifer at Crane Community Chapel in Austin. Wanita was a lifelong Austin resident and worked at Weyerhaeuser for 20 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin, where she was very active. Wanita liked flower and vegetable gardening. She also loved being outside, fishing and camping. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy in life and she loved watching their activities. Wanita was always willing to help anyone. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Pfeifer of Austin, Minnesota; sons, Steve (Tammy) Pfeifer of Austin, Minnesota, Greg (Lori) Pfeifer of Austin, Minnesota; daughter, Shelly (Lee) DeVries of Albert Lea; 7 grandchildren, Abigail, Benjamin, Jordan, Sadie, Amy, Katy, and Gregory; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Ronnie (Barb) Huffman of Austin, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Marilyn Huffman of Austin, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Agnes Huffman; and 9 siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery at a later date. The family will like to thank the staff of the Sacred Heart Care Center for the loving care and personal attention they provided to Wanita. Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
