Virginia Wilson

Virginia Ann (Hallman) Wilson, age 89, of Austin, left us today, Thursday, September 5, 2019, to join her husband, daughter, and siblings for that giant family reunion in the sky. Virginia was the 11th child of 12 born to Claude and Ellen Hallman on June 20, 1930. She attended Lincoln Elementary School, Austin High School and Austin College. She graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. Virginia married the love of her life, Carl L. Wilson Jr. on June 19, 1950. They made their home in Nicolville, Minnesota. After the loss of their oldest daughter, Cathy, they moved to Austin and completed their family raising seven more children. Ginny enjoyed roller skating, writing poetry, dancing, playing softball, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. She worked as a waitress at the Riviera and later went to work at the Post Office where she retired in 1990. After retirement, she spent her time volunteering at the hospital, the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and was a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society and the Mower County Humane Society. Virginia was a loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be truly missed. Survivors include her children, Michael (Patricia) Wilson, Lubbock, TX, Craig (Kristine) Wilson, Arden Hills, MN, Diane Wilson, Austin, MN, Carl (Mary) Wilson, Lakeville, MN, Cheryl (Kevin) Shaw, Dodge Center, MN, Annette (Donald) Fuller, Austin, MN, Beth (LeMoyne) Anderson, Walters, MN; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughter, Cathy; brothers, Ralph, Harry, Paul, Robert and Richard; sisters, Ruth, Helen, Marion, Lois, Donna and Barbara; great grandson, Liam. Funeral services will be held 11 am on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Olmsted and Rev. Brittany MacMillan officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 pm on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
