Veryl Cecil Lord

Veryl Cecil Lord, age 72, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Cura of Le Sueur Nursing Home located in Le Sueur, Minnesota. Veryl was born on October 9, 1953, in Austin to Veryl B. and Jewel A. (Gothard) Lord. He was raised in Austin and attended Sumner Elementary School until the fifth grade when the family moved to a farm in Waltham Township. Veryl graduated from Blooming Prairie High School class of 1972. During high school he excelled as a member of the wrestling team. Veryl enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming, and participating in 4-H activities. Upon graduation from high school, he briefly entered the United States Army which culminated in an honorable discharge. After his discharge from the Army, Veryl moved to Austin where he enjoyed life and could be frequently observed at his favorite meeting place, which was McDonalds on Oakland Avenue.

Veryl is survived by his older brother Thomas Lord of El Paso, Texas and his younger sister Tracey Lord of Prescott Valley, Arizona. He has one niece, Nicole Stence and two great nieces, Morgan and Autumn who reside in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Veryl Lord.

A funeral service for Veryl will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. Following a luncheon, a graveside service will take place at the Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery located in Waltham township. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
