Theodore "Ted" Joseph Janning

Theodore “Ted” Joseph Janning, age 60, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, in Owatonna, Minnesota. He was born on December 13, 1965, in Owatonna to Henry and Carole (Zeiner) Janning.

Ted grew up in Blooming Prairie and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. On July 28, 1990, he married Shelly Becker at the Hormel Nature Center in Austin, Minnesota, and together they built a full life centered around family and the things they loved.

Ted owned and operated his own tree service and took pride in working hard and helping others. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting and working on cars, doing bodywork, riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, and spending time with his family. Staying active was simply part of who he was.

Ted is survived by his parents, Henry and Carole Janning of Nebraska; wife, Shelly Janning of Blooming Prairie; daughters, Hallie Janning‑Smith of Blooming Prairie and Megan Janning of Owatonna; grandchildren, Aaron Janning‑Smith and McKenzie Janning‑Smith; siblings, Vicki (Charlie Peterson) Janning, Ginny (Jon) Howard, and Cathy Janning; as well as nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bernard and Leona Zeiner; his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Eileen Janning; and his daughter, Cera Janning.

A celebration of life for Ted will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home of Blooming Prairie is assisting the family with arrangements.
