Shirley Darlene Westing

Shirley D. Westing, age 92, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away, Monday, August 21, 2023. Shirley Darlene Dahl was born June 24, 1931, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, to Harold and Lydia Dahl. Her childhood years were spent in Blooming Prairie where she graduated from high school. On June 26, 1948, Shirley was united in marriage to Manley Westing in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with four children. Throughout her life, Shirley was fortunate to call various places home, including Blooming Prairie, England, Puerto Rico, Spain, Korea, Montana, Washington, South Dakota, Missouri, and Florida. While living in Florida, she worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie and regularly attended Nativity Lutheran Church in Florida. Shirley was an incredible woman who knew how to embrace life's joys. She found immense happiness in the company of her children and cherished moments with her grandchildren. Traveling with her husband was another love of Shirley’s, they embarked on many memorable travels around the world. One of her simple joys was when her boys would treat her to ice cream. Shirley will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sons, Glenn (Karen) Westing and David Westing; daughters, Kristin (Mark) Floyd and Kathy (George) Stillman; 20 grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Sonja (Jim) Williamson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manley Westing in 2004; brother, Ronnie Dahl; sisters, Millie Supple, Judy Williamson, and Donna Carlson.
