Sheryl Ann Borgstrom

Sheryl Ann (Gilbertson) Borgstrom, age 73, of Plymouth, Minnesota, passed away at her home on Friday, October 16, 2026.

Sheryl was born on September 1, 1953, in Austin, Minnesota, to Gerald and Darlene (Boldt) Gilbertson. She was a 1971 graduate of Austin High School and went on to complete her training at the Austin Area Vocational Technical College in 1972. On August 17, 2002, Sheryl was united in marriage to Steve Borgstrom in Austin. Over the years, Sheryl worked at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Benson Optical in Minneapolis, and later at MTS Systems in Eden Prairie until her retirement.

She lived in Richfield and Hopkins before later residing in Plymouth. Sheryl enjoyed cross stitching, traveling, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was known for her love of joking, telling stories, and sharing her remarkable memory of family history and events.

Sheryl is survived by her husband, Steve Borgstrom; siblings, Paula (Tim) Kunkel and Brad (Kathy) Gilbertson; nieces, Kirsten Gilbertson, Kayla Wierzba, and Kelsie Knutson; nephews, Zach Gilbertson and Taylor Kunkel; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Quinn, Asher, Crew, Laken, Anders, Millie, Bryson, Wrenley, and baby Wierzba due in March 2027.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Darlene Gilbertson; maternal grandparents, Harvey and Edna Boldt; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Alma Gilbertson; and aunts and uncles.

The family extends their sincere thanks to Rebecca, Amy, and Jennifer of Park Nicollet Hospice for the excellent care provided to Sheryl.

A memorial service for Sheryl will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota, with visitation one hour prior. A light reception will follow the service. Private family interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Austin at a later date. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
