Sharon Marie (Vietor) Knutson

Sharon Marie (Vietor) Knutson, of Owatonna, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the age of 83 at BridgeWater Assisted Living in Owatonna with her daughter, Debbie by her side.

Born on October 2, 1941, in Austin, Minnesota, Sharon was the daughter of Lambert Vietor and Marcella (Miller). Sharon spent her years in southern Minnesota, where she would go on to build a life rooted in family and creativity.

Sharon married Robert Knutson on July 15, 1958. They were blessed with 64 years together until Bob's passing in 2022. Together they raised five children, Bob Jr. (Theresa) Knutson of Austin, Debbie (Dan) Manggaard of rural Hayfield, Jerry (Nancy) Knutson of Stewartville, Vicki (Chris) Davis of Willmar, and Lori (Eddie) Stewart of Owatonna.

In 1974, Sharon turned her passion for ceramics into a home-based business that became a cherished gathering place for friends and neighbors. Her classes were more than just lessons in art; they were opportunities for connection and creativity that enriched the lives of many in her neighborhood and community.

Sharon found joy in life’s simple pleasures: coffee and laughter with good friends, baking for her loved ones, making personalized calendars for her family, and attending the Knutson family reunion picnic. She also had a remarkable resilience, including the unforgettable experience of surviving a tornado with her husband which demolished their home in 2010.

Sharon’s legacy lives on through her five children, 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren—each a testament to the love and dedication she poured into her family. Nothing brought Sharon more joy than her grandchildren. She loved each one dearly and was immensely proud of all of them. Sharon’s warmth and creative spirit touched many lives. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
