Scott Rasmussen

Scott James Rasmussen, age 64, of Austin, died Thursday, November 20, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Rochester. Scott was born in Carroll, Iowa on August 4, 1951 to Jim and Delores Rasmussen. He was baptized and confirmed in the catholic faith. Scott attended school in Marshalltown, Iowa and graduated from Austin High School in 1971. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 to 1976. Scott worked as a security officer for the better part of his working career at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting and playing cards. Survivors include his mother, Delores Rasmussen, Austin, MN; eight siblings, Ted Rasmussen, Austin, MN, Peter Rasmussen, Tabor City, NC, Mary (Roger) Larson, Austin, MN, Joe (Nancy) Rasmussen, Lakeville, MN, Jane (Bruce) Beery, Savage, MN, Patrick Rasmussen, Rochester, MN, Judy Rasmussen (Dale Spitzer), Rochester, MN, Beth (Sean) Miland, Austin, MN; many nieces and nephews; his beloved dachshund, Gracie. He is preceded in death by his father, James Rasmussen. A memorial service will be held 11:30 am on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Mayer Funeral Home with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Monday. Military rites will be by American Legion Post #91 and V.F.W. Post #1216. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com
