Ryan Alan Iverson

Ryan Alan Iverson, age 49, of Austin, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at his home. Ryan was born September 9, 1976, in Austin, Minnesota, to Chester and Nancy (Koontz) Iverson. He joined the United States Army in 1997 and was later stationed in Germany where he met and married Carrie (Griggs) Iverson in 2002, the same year he was honorably discharged. After coming back from Germany, Ryan worked as a U.S. Government contractor in Iraq for a year, then moved to Austin in 2005 as they were about to welcome their first and only child to the world, Nicholas “Nick” Alexander Iverson. Ryan started working for Hormel and continued working there for 20 years. Ryan cherished his son, Nick, deeply, considering him the focal point of his life. Their relationship was marked by Ryan’s immense pride as a father, and the connection between them is enduring and everlasting. Ryan will be remembered for his charming dimples, contagious laugh, passion for Star Wars, fondness for video games and “furry friends”, and a curious mind that relished exploring different subjects just for enjoyment.

Ryan is survived by his son, Nicholas Iverson of Austin; father, Chester (Sherri) Iverson of Austin; siblings, Kris (Tom) Kleinschrodt of Albert Lea, and Paul Iverson of Austin; nephews and nieces, Jacob Iverson, Breanna (Iverson) Ahmed, Dylan Iverson, Mariah Iverson, and Joshua Iverson; and aunts and uncles, as well as many cousins. Ryan was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy (Koontz) Kirsch; grandparents, Chester and Beryl Iverson, Marie Iverson, Roy and Marie Koontz; niece, Destanee Miks; and aunts and uncles.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

The memorial service for Ryan will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mower County Humane Society. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
