Ruth Olson

Ruth M. Olson, age 94, of Austin, died Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Comforcare after a short illness. Ruth was born June 25, 1925 in Austin, Minnesota to Ernest and Helene Iverson. She was a lifelong resident of Austin. In July of 1946 she married Robert D. Olson in the family home of Robert’s parents. To this union five children were born. Ruth was a homemaker for a lot of years. After her kids were grown she worked as a Pastry Baker in a local restaurant until her retirement in 1982. Ruth was a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Austin. Survivors include a sister, Verdel Clark, Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shirley Olson, Austin; daughter, Rosemary Wolfe, Mason City, IA; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Dawn Olson, Faribault; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two sisters; two sons, Richard and Ricky; husband, Bob. A funeral service will be held 1 pm on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Mayer Funeral Home with Rev. Donna Dempewolf officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Wednesday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com
