Russell Blaser

October 8, 1965 — August 2, 2021

Russell Anthony Blaser, age 55, of Osage, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Russell was born on October 8, 1965, in Osage, Iowa to Gervis and Lucina (Freund) Blaser. The term gentle soul described Russell. Sometimes we look for notable achievements to mark someone’s life, however we fail to notice the most important characteristic of the person. Russell was a simple and kind man, with a big heart and a genuine person. He never complained. His son Dustin meant the world to him. His greatest joy was time spent with family, especially his son, the light of his life. Russ loved car rides to the farm to check the crops and to watch planting and harvesting as it occurred. Eating out at McDonalds, Pizza Ranch, and Hardees was a typical outing weekly with a sibling. Diet coke, Snickers, and Reese’s peanut butter cups were a favorite treat. He loved to watch baseball, football, and westerns on TV. Russell was a special soul and will be missed by his family. You will always be remembered.

Survivors include his son, Dustin (Kayla) Blaser of Unionville, MO; two grandchildren, Stella and Grady; two brothers, Glenn (Carla) Blaser of Forest City, IA, Mark Blaser of Forest City, IA; five sisters, Charlotte (Craig) Podein of Spring Valley, MN, Diane (Don) Hofland of St. Ansgar, IA, Joyce (Jack) Morrow of St. Ansgar, IA, Patricia (Matt) Flynn of Stewartville, MN, Julie (Scott) Thurnau of Zumbrota, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gervis and Lucina Blaser; and two brothers, Allan and Gary Blaser.

A private graveside service will be held. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
