Ruby G. Miller, age 95, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Ruby Gwendolyn Thompson was born on September 1, 1929, in rural Goodhue County, Minnesota, to Pearlner and Borghild (Gunderson) Thompson. She graduated from Wanamingo High School and attended the Minnesota School of Business, graduating with a two-year degree. She was a long-time employee in the agriculture loans department at First National Bank in Blooming Prairie. On May 5, 1951, Ruby was united in marriage to Willis “Bud” Miller at Aspelund Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Wanamingo. The couple lived their entire married life in Blooming Prairie, raising their two sons. Ruby enjoyed dancing, annual family vacations up north, spending time with her family, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie and volunteered for many years at the church’s annual lutefisk dinner.
Ruby is survived by her son, Brian Miller of Sparta, Wisconsin; brother, Dewey (Dorothy) Thompson; sister-in-law, Vicki Thompson; and honored extended family members, Jim and Kelli O’Connor and their children, Katie and Sam Wencl, their children Bennett, Matthew, and Karsten, Patrick and Krystal O’Connor, their son Case, and Megan and Jacob Katcher and their children, Jetson, Camille, and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearlner and Borghild Thompson; husband, Willis; son, Reed Miller; sister, Harriet Jackson; and brother, Lee Thompson.
The memorial service for Ruby will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Blooming Prairie City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church or the Blooming Prairie Cancer Group. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
