Ronald “Ronnie” Dean Newman, age 72, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at Our House Senior Living in Austin on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Ronnie was born in Austin, Minnesota on October 31, 1952, to William and Ardis (Skauge) Newman. He attended the school for the deaf in Faribault, Minnesota. Ronnie volunteered for The Salvation Army for 50+ years. He also assisted with The Salvation Army Disaster Relief alongside his two brothers and always looked forward to attending men’s camp. He enjoyed family and had a special relationship with each of his siblings, connecting in different ways. Ronnie also worked alongside his brother, Dennis at The Northwest Market. In his free time, he enjoyed playing dice games such as Bunco and 10,000, as well as checkers. Ronnie also enjoyed going on drives and was a devoted fan of wrestling, never missing a Monday or Thursday night match on TV.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Newman; sister-in-law, Linda Newman; nieces and nephews, Christopher Johnson, Jodie (Erin) Mohan, Angela Johnson, Jamie (John) Lamaack, and William Johnson; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ardis Newman; grandparents, Nervin and Agnes Skauge and John and Hilda Newman; brothers, William Newman, Robert Newman, and Dennis Newman; sister, Barbara Johnson; brother-in-law, Ronald Johnson; nephew, Ronnie Johnson, Jr; and several aunts and uncles.
A special thank you to Heartland Hospice and the staff at Our House Senior Living in Austin for the wonderful care they provided Ronnie.
A celebration of life for Ronnie will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at CH McAlister Park, 21st Ave. NW, Mapleview, MN, 55912. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
