Robert "Bob" Lavern Haney

Robert “Bob” Lavern Haney, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at his home in Austin.

Bob was born in Austin and grew up between Austin, Nicolville, and Rose Creek. He graduated from Rose Creek High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in Corpus Christi, Midway Island, and around Asia, before being honorably discharged.

Bob worked most of his life at Hormel, retiring in 2005. He loved to hunt pheasant and deer, fish for trout and walleye, and play golf for the past several years with the crew of retirees at Meadow Greens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Christina and Myron, and an infant daughter, Rachel. He is survived by his sisters, Janet Lowe and June Berg; children, Penny (Jess) and Mike (Lisa); grandchildren, Clementine and Arthur; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Bob will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Bob’s name to Trout Unlimited. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
