Olive Mayer

Olive C. Mayer, age 97, formerly of Austin, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Rosewood Estates of Hyland in St. Paul, Minnesota. Olive was born November 8, 1913 in Montrose, Minnesota to William and Catherine Redman. She graduated from St. Augustine High School in Austin, class of 1932. On August 25, 1935 she was united in marriage to John F. Mayer at St. Augustine Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2005. Olive was past president of the Rosary Society and the Philomathian Library. She was an active member of the Austin Country Club, a fabulous baker, a wonderful wife and mother. Survivors include two sons, John (Cathy), Naples, FL, James (Linda), Naples, FL; daughter, Joan (Peter) Gavin, Inver Grove Heights, MN; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am on Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. There will be a 4 pm CCW rosary and a 6:30 pm wake service on Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-7 pm and also one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
