Nona Mae (Osland) Janning, age 81, of Austin, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Austin Medical Center. Nona was born May 22, 1929 in St. James, Minnesota to Oscar and Lillian (Johnson) Osland. She graduated from Austin High School, spent two years at Austin Community College and Mankato State University earning a degree as a Certified Public Accountant. She was also a homemaker. On September 2, 1949 she was united in marriage to Herbert Janning in Charles City, Iowa. Nona was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Austin Senior Center. She loved playing cards with family and friends, her crafts, playing bingo, making purses, traveling with her husband, and making lefse with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Herbert Janning, Austin; ten children, Rita (Gerald) Haas, St. Charles, MN, Carol (Rick) Zaifert, Buffalo, NY, Connie (Dave) Schaefer, Austin, MN, Tom Janning, Austin, MN, Steve Janning, Austin, MN, Kay (Tom) Rameriz, Sacramento, CA, John Janning, Austin, MN, Mary Janning, Austin, MN, Dale (Kris) Janning, Robbinsdale, MN, Glenn Janning, Flint, MI; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Deb Janning. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Friday, September 3, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 pm on Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The casket bearers will be Marv Stoltz, Scott Schaefer, Phillip Haas, Dominic Janning, Todd Stoltz and Turrell Janning.
