Nolan Clair Christianson

Nolan Clair Christianson, age 76, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, peacefully at home and surrounded by family. Nolan and his family endured the long goodbye, after his six-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Nolan was born on January 10, 1949, in Blooming Prairie to Lawrence and Mildred (Peterson) Christianson and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School Class of 1967.

How Nolan and his wife, Linda, first got together is up for debate, as both claim one had “chased after” the other. However, the chase ended on June 14, 1969, when they married at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. They started their married life and soon after bought a house in Blooming Prairie, ultimately never leaving the town they cherished. Together they were blessed with their three children, Tonya, Aaron, and Lianna.

Nolan held many jobs throughout his working years. In the kitchen at Lansing Corners, an orderly at St. Mary’s, driving school bus, selling insurance and televisions, working at Hormel Foods, being the owner of Nolan’s Interiors on Main Street in Blooming Prairie, and the Rochester Post Bulletin just scratch the surface of all of Nolan’s career adventures. Ultimately, Nolan retired doing advertisement for the Mower County Shopper. Outside of work, Nolan was a handyman, helping his kids and grandkids build various projects. He sat on the Udolpho township board, Boys and Girls club board, and church council, as well as teaching Sunday school.

Nolan was always surrounded by his family and large group of friends, and he held them in his heart dearly. His favorite people called him “grandpa”, and he rarely missed an opportunity to come support his grandkids, throughout all of their many activities. Nolan and Linda loved to travel, enjoying many road trips, camping adventures, and family vacations together. He was a family man to his core and will be forever missed by those who loved him.

Nolan will be forever remembered by his wife of 56 years, Linda Christianson; children, Tonya (Bob) Hansen, Aaron (Jessie) Christianson, and Lianna (Travis) Doocy. Nolan is the proud and adored grandfather of Cody (Caitlynn) Poshusta, Emma (Lucas Noble) Christianson, Ryan Hansen, Cole Christianson, Anika (Josiah Hedensten) Hansen, Cade Christianson, Addison Doocy, and Aden Doocy. Nolan also has two great-grandchildren, who always brightened his day, Leo and Ellie Poshusta. Nolan is survived by his siblings, Dean (Sharron) Christianson, Diane (Jim) Fischer, and Terry (Chris) Christianson, along with many adoring nieces and nephews. Nolan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Douglas Christianson; and sister, Marlys Anderson.
