Nanette Beth Ladd, age 51, also known as Nan, Nannerz, and Memaw (her favorite), passed away unexpectedly on October 27, 2026, in Austin, Minnesota. Though her time here was short, Nan lived her life her way, the best way she could, not always right and not always wrong, but always full of love.
Nanette Beth Leger was born on February 8, 1975, in Austin, Minnesota, to Ronald and Janet (Moja) Leger. Nan was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. She graduated from Austin High School.
Nan married Mark Ladd on May 12, 2007, in Austin. She began her career working at Hormel for a couple of years before dedicating almost 25 years of her career to Mayo Clinic, where she most recently worked as the Patient Appointment Services Lead in the Neurosurgery Department. During her time at Mayo Clinic, she worked hard, always stayed busy, and was very proud of what she had accomplished there.
She had many interests, including crocheting, roller derby, traveling to the North Shore, singing, listening to music, and enjoying old musicals and musical theater. Nanette also had a special love for animals, particularly her dogs.
She was devoted to her beliefs. For many years, she was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran and had acquired many “adopted” kids and dedicated countless hours to supporting the church’s youth programs. Nan and Mark helped organize events, lock-ins, fundraisers, and trips. Nan had a gift for making people feel at home, and the world is a little less bright without her in it. She was the kind of woman who always had a place in her heart for you.
Nan was strong in more ways than one. Life didn’t always treat her well, but she did her best to navigate the things that were thrown at her. She was a breast cancer survivor, and through it, she tried to share the experience with others around her so they wouldn’t feel alone. Nan was always Mark’s rock when he was ill and always by his side, and he tried to do his best to give her the same care when she was ill. She will be deeply missed as a wife, daughter, mother, Memaw, and a friend.
Nanette is survived by her husband of 19 years, Mark Ladd “Tin-Man”; mother, Janet Leger; her children and stepchildren, Justin (Lybbi LaBeau) Gaffer, Samantha Jo (Alix Kranz) Ladd, Elizabeth (Brandan Strickland) Leger, Danielle (Michael Bromenschenkel) Ladd, Amanda (Mel DeCosta) Evans, Rebecca Evans, and Michael (Brody Kleven) Ladd; grandchildren, William, Maxwell, Leander, Alea “AJ”, Jeremiah Jr., Aurora, Messiah, Andrea, Pierre, and Francoise; her siblings, Benjamin (Aleisha) Leger, April (Nikki Swords) Leger, and Rachel (Jeremy Felder) Leger; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends who she considered her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Leger; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Douglas and Winnie Ladd; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
A celebration of life will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to The Hormel Institute Breast Cancer Research Fund. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
