Michael "Mike" Corcoran

March 22, 1956 — January 17, 2020

Michael “Mike” Douglas Corcoran, age 63 of Stewartville, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus, surrounded by his sisters and brothers. Michael sustained severe injuries from a vehicle accident on January 13, 2020 and never recovered. A tombstone in Ireland read “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal” – Anonymous quote. Michael was born in Austin, Minnesota on March 22, 1956 to Eugene C. and Elizabeth L. (Miller) Corcoran. He had six brother and sisters, fifteen nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles and countless friends. Mike attended high school in both Austin and Lyle, graduating from Lyle High School in 1973. His career consisted of working as paraprofessional at Austin High School and The Boys Ranch and was most recently employed by the Rochester Public School District. For Mike, he never had less than two jobs. He bartended at several other places and most recently was working at the American Legion in Bryon, MN where he had fond memories of co-workers and patrons.

His passion for animals was endless. He adored his horses, especially his “Gin.” He loved being with his family at social gatherings and spending time his lifelong friends. His presence was larger than life, with a booming voice and laugh, that all can recall. His nieces and nephews were a great pride to him, he adored them.

Michael, we say to you, we have memories bursting from our hearts that will help us through our time on Earth without you here with us. Until we meet again, we will remember your gleeful smile and love of life. Thank you for your love Michael, we were blessed to have you in our lives, rest easy.

Michael is survived by his father, Eugene C. Corcoran of Brownsdale; six siblings, Rhonda (Dean) Baldner of Austin, Lana Corcoran of Sheridan Wyoming, Dennis Corcoran of Sheridan Wyoming, Kellie (Dave) Shinkle of Grover, Wyoming, Lynne (Kellie) Corcoran-Zubke of Sargeant, Minnesota, Patrick Corcoran of Austin; 15 nieces and  nephews, Alisha (Zac) Martinson, Trinity Corcoran, Amanda (Colin) Lambert, Desire Corcoran, Travis Corcoran, Kasandra (Ghyslain) Sossoukpe, Troy (Stephanie) Corcoran, Skyler (Mandy ) Corcoran, Kelsey Zubke, Jo (Justin) Ford, Nikki (RJ) Laird, Kelsey Zubke, Jesse Zubke, Colten Corcoran, and Kylie Zubke. He is preceded into death by his mother, Elizabeth L. Corcoran.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held from 1:00–3:00 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna at a later date. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
