Michael Randall Odegaard

Michael Randall Odegaard, age 43, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus, after courageously battling multiple myeloma for over five years. Michael was born on December 12, 1981, in Austin. He was the beloved son of the late Diana Johnson and Randy Odegaard. He grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 2000. He later attended Riverland Community College, where he graduated from the carpentry program in 2019. Those who knew Michael will remember his humor, wit, and charm. He had a way of making things work with what he had and brought laughter to those around him. Michael had a lifelong love for Minnesota sports teams, especially football and baseball. He also loved NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon, and was proud to have attended a live race. Michael’s presence, laughter, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Alexis, and her mother, Andrea; sister, Amber Lafae (Oumar) Fofana; half-sister, Melissa (Steve Verthein) Odegaard; brother, Chad (Carol) Odegaard; as well as his godchildren, extended family members, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Diana Johnson and Randy Odegaard.

The memorial service for Michael will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. The family encourages those attending to wear their favorite Minnesota sports gear. The interment for both Michael and his mother, Diana, will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Brownsdale following the service. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
