Michael "Mike" Casimir Stenzel, age 45, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mike was born on April 6, 1980, in Glendale, California to Kenneth and Patricia Kay (Simpson) Stenzel. Mike was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from USC High School in Wells, Minnesota in 1998. He went on to attend Riverland Community College in Austin, where on the third day of classes he met the love of his life, Rebecca Shaw and they have been together ever since. The couple were wed on May 19, 2001, at Crane Chapel in Austin, Minnesota. They were blessed with a daughter and twin sons. In 2000, he began his over 25-year career at McNeilus Steel in Dodge Center, where he most recently was the sheet room supervisor. He enjoyed working at Gravity Storm Brewery since it opened in 2018. He was a member of DNR, Superior, and Red Line dart leagues. He also golfed in a league at Dodge County Country Club. Mike was a social butterfly. He loved watching Minnesota Vikings and was an avid member of many fantasy football leagues. Above all, he cherished his family, he was an amazing husband, always knowing what Becky needed before she knew she needed it, showed up for everything his children were a part of and always supported them in their dreams. Mike will be remembered for his loving and caring attitude.
Mike is survived by his dad, Kenneth Stenzel of Wells; wife, Rebecca "Becky" Stenzel of Austin; children, Lilly (Brady Poncelet) Stenzel of Pine Island, Laythan (Ava Ehrhardt) Stenzel of Austin, and Landyn Stenzel of Austin; siblings, Melanie (Manny) Gonzalez of Pasadena, California, and Donovan Wadding of Texas; nieces and nephews, Kristy Koprowicz, Karl Kauffman, Patrick Wadding, and Kayla Ashcraft; parents-in-law, Steven and Sandy Shaw of Faribault; brother-in-law, Jeffery (Stephanie) Shaw of Seattle, Washington; and sister-in-law, Kristen (Alex) Perrine of Lakeville, Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Kay Stenzel; stepmother, Patricia May Stenzel; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A memorial service for Mike will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, Minnesota. The visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
