Mary Alice Kamp

Mary Alice Kamp, age 77, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at St. John's Lutheran Community in Albert Lea.

Mary A. Getchell was born on January 7, 1948 in Austin, Minnesota and attended Austin Public Schools. She went on to marry David Kamp on June 2, 1973. Mary held various careers during her lifetime, including time as a baker and hotel manager. She was a gentle soul who enjoyed her beloved dachshunds, baking, and spending time with her family. Most of all, Mary’s greatest joy was being a grandma.

Mary was preceded in death by her mom, Irene Getchell; and husband, David Kamp. She is survived by her children, Julie (Bruce) Newell, Linda (Sgt. Tony) Heise, Kenny (Barb) Shuck, Jon (Rachel) Kamp, and Laura (Tony) Myhre; grandchildren, Corey (Stacie) Newell, Amanda (Capt. Jacob) Schmidt, MSgt. Lucas (Krissy) Heise, Dustin (Mikayla) Shuck, Katie (Brett) Schiphoff, Curtis Shuck, Elizabeth Heise, Zachary Heise, Alex Kamp, Ashley Myhre, Brooklyn Myhre, and Dominick Kamp; 18 great-grandchildren; extended family, Beth (Travis) Skeide, Gracie Skeide, Jennifer (Darin) Granle, and Mardelle Bakkum; many other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Mary will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
