Marcella V. (Mentel) Schwartz, age 92, of Rose Creek, died  Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Comforcare   Good Samaritan Center.                   Marcella was born July 16, 1920 on a farm south of Rose Creek to  Fred and Mary (Majerus) Mentel.    She lived in Rose Creek and Austin.  Marcella graduated from  Austin High School in 1939 and then went to   Teacher's Training in Winona.                   Marcella married Melvin Schwartz on March 25, 1942 in Windom.   They made their home on a farm   near Rose Creek where they raised their three children.                   Marcella taught country school in Lyle and Johnsburg and later  taught at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Adams until her  retirement in 1977.                   She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Peter's Rosary  Society, Rose Creek Literary Club and Birthday Club, Hoe and Grow  Garden Club, and was a Hospital Auxiliary volunteer at St. Olaf  Hospital in Austin.                   Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Jack) Kiefer, Rose Creek,  Marietta (Steve) Frein, Plainview; daughter-in-law, Judy Schwartz,  Rose Creek; nine grandchildren, David Schwartz, Lynelle Elward,  Steven   Schwartz, Gregg Schwartz, Jessica Sannes, Laura Peterson, Mitchell  Frein, Kellie Kiefer, and Sarah Kiefer; 16 great grandchildren;  sisters-in-law, Elaine Mentel, Austin, Stella Mentel, Adams.                   She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin in 1999; son, Roger  in 2009; brothers, Harry and Clarence; sister, Kathryn.                   A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am on Friday, December 7,  2012 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rose Creek with Father Tom  Loomis officiating.  There will be a 6 pm wake service on  Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-7 pm  and also one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
