Lorraine Arens

Lorraine Doris Arens, age 86, of Austin, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at her home. Lorraine was born December 21, 1924 in Forest City, Iowa to Clifton and Lila (Olson) Baker. On November 30, 1940 she was united in marriage to Lawrence J. "Bud" Arens at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1981. Lorraine was a retired employee of Hormel Foods and a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She enjoyed her ladies card club, flowering, the casino, watching her birds, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her three children, Barb Harmon, Oakdale, Larry (Linda) Arens, Austin, Greg Arens, Austin; seven grandchildren, Gina, Heidi, Mike, Todd, Holly, Eric, Aaron; 10 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and one on the way; a niece and nephew. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lyle Baker; granddaughter, Kelly; son-in-law, Jim Harmon; daughter-in-law, Sinthia. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 5:30 pm wake service on Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-6 pm and also one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
