Lorna L. Krob, age 88, of Austin, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at St. Mark's Lutheran Home. Lorna Lucille Norman was born March 10, 1922 in Rockwell, Iowa, one of 12 children of Frank and Stella Norman. She attended school in Oakland, Minnesota until the 10th grade. On November 30, 1939 she was united in marriage to Theodore J. Krob. To this union three sons were born: Steven, Carl and Dean. Lorna lived by East Side Lake in their home for 61 years, before moving to Murphy's Creek, and then St. Mark's Lutheran Home. Lorna was an active member of First United Methodist Church, UMW Church Circle, WFL Lodge 38 and President of Webster's PTA. She was a dedicated homemaker, loved to bake and was especially known for her kolaches. Lorna was an accomplished seamstress, making afghans for her loved ones. A highlight of her summers was fishing on Lake Kabetogama. She was an avid sports fan, attending all of her sons' football and baseball games. In her later years, Lorna enjoyed watching sports on TV. Lorna had a kind, gentle personality. She was quick witted and intelligent. She dearly loved her family and was beloved by her sons and daughters-in-law, grandkids and great grandkids. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Olson and the St. Mark's staff for their loving care of Lorna. Survivors include her sons, Steven (Dorothy), Austin, MN, Carl (Janet), Bozeman, MT, Dean (Marina), Belgrade, MT; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Wilma Madison, Rice Lake, WI; sisters-in-law, Eva Norman and Louise Weber, Austin, MN; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted on January 21, 2003; parents; six brothers; four sisters; and in-laws. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, February 25, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat Toschak officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or The First United Methodist Church of Austin.
