Lola Lou Babcock, age 92, of Adams, Minnesota, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Cedar Court Assisted Living, Adams, Minnesota. She was born on April 29, 1932, to Birdge and Julia (Rafferty) Babcock in West Concord, Minnesota. She was baptized on July 2, 1935, and confirmed on December 21, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church in West Concord. In 1948, she moved to Austin and married Leonard Boik at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. They had three children. The couple later divorced in February of 1960. Lola worked at J.C. Penney, Clean Towel Service, Weyerhaeuser Paper, and Hy-Vee Foods. In October of 1961, Lola married Bud Reim. They later divorced in November 1965. Lola married Bob Stockdale at Grace Lutheran Church in September 1966. The couple were the first to manage the Key Apartments after it opened. They divorced in October 1994. She lived at The Oaks Condominiums until October of 2017 when she moved to Adams Health Care Center Assisted Living/Cedar Court until her death. Lola loved time spent with her grandchildren playing games. She traveled to several states to visit her daughter Brenda and usually was there to help her move and to vacation. Lola will be dearly missed.
Lola is survived by her son, Dennis (Peggy) Boik of Austin Minnesota; daughters, Linda (Bill) Jahn of Rose Creek, Minnesota and Brenda Lein of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Scott (Carrie) Boik of Urbandale, Iowa, Christopher (Taryn) Boik of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kathryn Boik of Sunnyvale, California, Chad (Beth) Perkins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mathew (Inez) Nelson of Isanti, Minnesota, Jesse (Michelle) Bawek of West Des Moines, Iowa, Andrea (Danny) Lein-Marrapodi of Sacramento, California; greatgrandchildren, Camryn, Emily, Evangeline, Benjamin, William, Connor, Alex, Joslin, Zora and Otis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Birdge and Julia Babcock; grandsons, Benjamin Nelson and Cory Boik; sisters, Evelyn Babcock, Elaine (Bud) Busho, Irene (Bud) Meyer, Eunice (Harlan) Stenbakken, Mary Babcock, Beverly (Bill) Houston, Pearl “Jean” (Ken) Fenimore; brothers, Birdge “Bud” (Clarice “Cle”) Babcock, George Babcock, Harold (Cassie) Babcock, David (Laura) Babcock; and brother-in-law, Ed Koberstein.
