Joyce Geraldine Tanner

Joyce Geraldine Tanner, age 75, of Austin, Minnesota, sadly passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Our House Senior Living. Joyce was born on July 4, 1949, in Austin, Minnesota, to Doyle and Gladys (Fomasina) Tanner. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School with the class of 1967. Joyce stayed in her hometown working various jobs as a nurse's aide, at the Austin Daily Herald, and waitressing at Hormel Café and Sterling Café. She held these jobs both before and after having her only child in August of 1982.

Joyce was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandma and dear friend. She was a kind soul yet stubborn and determined, full of joy and filled with laughter, lighting up every room she entered. She took pride in helping when she could, often volunteering at the Salvation Army in her free time. She was also a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church and looked forward to Sundays and her gospel songs. Joyce really enjoyed the little things in life- a good book, shopping, evening walks and bike rides, sunsets, her bible, and her favorite TV show with a sweet treat of course. Most importantly she loved and cherished all the time spent and memories made with her family and fur babies.

Joyce is survived by her son, Samuel Tanner; granddaughter, Areanna Berg; honorary grandsons, Chris Berg and Ben "bubba" Berg; honorary great-grandchildren, Violet, Athena, and Griffin Berg; sister, Linda Fomasina; brother, Ken Tanner; and nieces and nephews, Ken, Wade, Jason, Hollie, Aaron, Kari, Kevin, and Penn. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Doyle Tanner; mother, Gladys (Fomasina) Tanner; sister, Patricia Hanson; and brother, Elwin Tanner.
