JoAnn Horkey

JoAnn Horkey, age 87, of Albert Lea, Minnesota formerly of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She was born on April 11, 1937, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota to Otto Horkey and Helen (Butler) Horkey. JoAnn attended and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. She was a faithful member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie; when she moved to Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, they had a chapel that she worshipped at every chance she got. JoAnn enjoyed driving around and visiting with friends and family, and she loved to dance. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

JoAnn is survived by her nieces Bernadine Graves of Alden, Colleen Schreiber of Albert Lea, and Shelleen Horkey of Witchata, Kansas; several generations of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Otto Horkey; her mother, Helen (Butler) Young; and her brother, Robert (Donna) Horkey.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024 in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Newry Township, Minnesota. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
