Jesse Michael Boelman, 34, of Austin, MN, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, after navigating the storms of mental health and addiction.
Jesse was born on June 5, 1991, to Patty and Tony Boelman in Rochester, MN. He grew up in Walker, MN, and later moved to Austin, MN, where his quick wit, loyal heart, creative nature and big smile drew others in wherever he went.
He was known for his love of all thing’s superheroes, and comic books. He had an immense love of art and created handmade gifts for family and friends. Jesse was always thinking of others and was able to quote movies at the drop of a dime, as well as could conversate for hours. Though he faced challenges, he never lost the love of his family and friends. Those that knew him will remember his beautiful eyes, smile and full of life stories – he also gave the best hugs.
Jesse found great joy and purpose when he worked at Berg’s Nursery. It was more than a job to him – it was a place where he built friendships, shared laughter, and took pride in creating beautiful landscapes. The kindness and respect shown to him by the Berg family and team meant more than words can express, and our family will always be deeply thankful for the care and support they gave him.
Jesse’s journey with mental health and alcohol use was not a sign of weakness, but of how hard he fought to find peace. Our family shares this openly because we believe his life and struggles can remind others that it’s okay to talk about these things, to reach out for help, and to hold on to hope.
He is survived by his mom, Patty Kiley Boelman of Austin; father, Tony (Angie) Boelman of Willow River; sister, Lacey (Brandon) Rector of Austin; brothers, Kyle Boelman of Austin and Jared (Brittany) Lahti of Bemidji, MN; and sister, Megan (Brent) Clark of Becker, MN; nieces and nephews, Naryk, Norah, Hayden, Hudson and Hailee, who will carry his memory with love and pride. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donna DuFour and Aeiko Boelman; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Patricia Kiley; paternal uncle, Ralph Boelman; and maternal aunt, Maggie Kiley Anderson.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the first responders, law enforcement, and medical personnel who cared for Jesse and our family that night. We recognize the emotional toll their work carries, and we are deeply grateful for their compassion, professionalism, and dedication in the most difficult of circumstances.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin.
Jesse will forever be remembered for the love he gave, the laughter he brought, and the reminder that compassion – for ourselves and others – can save lives.
