Janette “Jan” Kay Butts, age 83, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. She was born on February 16, 1943, in Austin, Minnesota, to Keith and Irene Wakefield.
Jan spent her life in Austin, where she was united in marriage to her late husband, Gary Butts. She will be remembered for her kindness, caring heart, and the love she shared with her family and friends. She touched many lives with her warmth and generosity, and those who knew her will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
Jan also had a deep love for her cherished doll collection, which she thoughtfully gathered from all over the world. Each doll held a special story and reflected her appreciation for beauty, culture, and the memories connected to them.
Jan’s heart overflowed with love for her granddaughters, Kaylee and Ellie, creating a bond that time could never fade. From the delicate act of planting flowers and watching life bloom alongside them, to the laughter-filled afternoons spent crafting, every moment was a treasure. She especially enjoyed watching Kaylee figure skate, her face beaming with pride at every graceful move. These shared experiences, filled with love and gentle guidance, are the memories Kaylee and Ellie will forever hold close — a testament to the beautiful soul that touched their lives so deeply.
Jan is survived by her sons, Robert Butts and Brian Butts; daughter-in-law, Terrye Butts; and her beloved grandchildren, Andrew Butts, Christopher Butts, Kaylee Butts, and Ellie Butts; and other family and friends.
Her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A private family service will be held. Private interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
