Janet "Jan" Lee Nirk

Janet “Jan” L. Nirk, age 81, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie. Janet Lee Trauth was born on September 13, 1942, at Lutheran Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, to Clifford George and Virginia Claire (Otting) Trauth. She graduated from Affton High School in Affton, Missouri, with the class of 1959. On December 7, 1968, Jan was united in marriage to William Henry Nirk at Crestwood Divine Science Church in Crestwood, Missouri. They were blessed with two sons, Tom and Greg. The couple later divorced. Jan worked as a controller for various businesses and owned and operated Jan’s Bookkeeping and Jan’s Tax Service. Jan was known for her strong work ethic, her knack for numbers, and her remarkable memory. She enjoyed reading and trips to the casino. She will be greatly missed. 

Jan is survived by her sons, Tom (Karen) Nirk of Owatonna, and Greg (Jennifer) Nirk of Blooming Prairie; grandchildren, Zachery (Joy) of Rochester, Dylan of Blooming Prairie, Andrew of Owatonna, Cody of Blooming Prairie, Kaylee of Blooming Prairie, Grace of Owatonna, and Sophea of Owatonna; sister, Judy (Ray) Maserang of St. Louis, Missouri; and sister-in-law, Delores Trauth of St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Virginia; and brother, Donald Trauth.

The memorial service for Jan will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home of Blooming Prairie is assisting the family with arrangements.
