Harry Hanson

Harry Francis Hanson, age 81, of Austin, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Our House Memory Care. Harry was born September 19, 1929 in Newry Township, Minnesota to Archie and Hattie (Braaten) Hanson. Harry worked at Hormel Foods and was a Naval veteran of the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953. On January 16, 1954 he was united in marriage to Lucille M. Schaefer in Austin. Harry enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and his grandchildren. He was a member of Ramsey Golf Club and Meadow Greens Golf Club. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Hanson, Austin, MN; children, Keith (Sue) Hanson, Austin, MN, Ken (Glen Sue) Hanson, North Port, FL, Julie (Joe) Michel, North Mankato, MN, Jim (Ruth) Hanson, Northwood, IA, Ann (Dave) Forland, Austin, MN; son-in-law, Greg Denisen, Austin, MN; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother, Archie Hanson, Austin, MN; sisters, Shirley Saaranen, Austin, MN, Henrietta Greenameyer, Austin, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy; brother, John; sisters, Katie, Millie and Cherry. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev. Glenn Monson and Rev. Karen Behling officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home. The family will also greet friends at a luncheon following the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
