Gustavo Ivan Xicara Mayen

Gustavo Ivan Xicara Mayen, age 37, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, in Guatemala City, Guatemala. A caring and gentle soul, Ivan will be remembered as loving, respectful, responsible, fearful of God, and always smiling. You could always rely on a helping hand from him and joke to ease the situation. He was a muscular guy with luscious curls; Fabio as others would say. Ivan could make anyone feel welcome, even if he didn’t know you. He wasn’t afraid of anything and wasn’t afraid to fail, as long as he tried. Ivan was the only man in a household full of women for a long time. He was their protector and listener and was always looking out for them if they needed anything. Ivan was someone to talk to and would never judge you. He was so kind and gentle, and always generous. He would literally get out of his car on the street and help random people push their car and give them a ride to where they needed to go, especially in winter. He even gave a random guy in Vegas a ride to his block (we probably should have been more cautious, lol). But that’s him, that’s Ivan. He was a strong man that ended up with a soft spot for four cats, Moo Moo, Creekee, Mushu, and Dumpling.

Ivan will be missed like crazy by his family; mother, Emma Mayen-Morgan and father, Thomas Morgan; sisters, Yosselin Xicara-Mayen and Melanie Sanchez; future nephew, whom he would have taught to wrestle; and his fur babies, whom he loved deeply. We know, trust, and believe that one day we will see each other again in Heaven. It’s only a see you later, it’s never a goodbye.

Te amamos, por siempre.

“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 ESV
