Austin

Emily Julia Koeppell, age 100, formerly of Brookfield and North Lake, Wisconsin, passed away April 11, 2022 in Austin, Minnesota.

Emily was born February 4, 1922 in Fox River Grove, Illinois to Stephen and Mary Kulovsek. She grew up in Fox River Grove and graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School. She went on to business school and worked for Carson Pirie Scott and the Electric Company.  Through a friend she met her future husband, Lowell (Bud) Koeppell of Milwaukee.  They were married on October 18, 1941 and settled in Milwaukee and later Brookfield.

Emily worked for her father-in-law’s Texaco business and later worked as a teacher’s aide at St. John Vianney parish school in Brookfield.  Heading back to college, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and went on to be a devoted elementary teacher at St. John’s for 27 years. After Lowell’s passing in 1996, Emily went on to substitute teach at St. John’s and the Elmbrook Schools for many years.

Emily and Lowell enjoyed time at their lake cottage at North Lake, years of activities through Lowell’s amateur radio hobby and their Boston Terriers.  Emily loved cooking, baking and gardening and remained active with crafts and acrylic painting until her passing.  She deeply loved her family and her faith in Jesus Christ.
