Doris "Dody" Mae Krebsbach

Doris “Dody” (Kos) Krebsbach, age 93, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.

Dody was born on June 22, 1933, to James and Agnes (Sistek) and grew up alongside her older brother, Richard. She proudly graduated from Austin High School and became a lifelong resident of Austin building a beautiful life in the community she always called home.

On September 15, 1953, Dody married the love of her life, Lawrence “Fritz” Krebsbach, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. Dody and Fritz shared 58 years of marriage and together raised five children: Gary (Patti) Krebsbach of Edmond, Oklahoma; Cindy (Dale) Pechacek of Austin, Minnesota; Carolyn (Bruce) Clark of Hugo, Minnesota; Vickie (Sean) Finnegan of St. George, Utah; and Rodney (Kathy) Krebsbach of Walters, Minnesota.

Their family continued to grow, eventually blessing Dody with nine grandchildren: Rochele (Mark) Plummer, Shane (Sarah) Pechacek, Jennifer (Robert) Rankin, Jeffrey Krebsbach, Briana Clark, Sarah Stuhr, Kayla (Eoghan) McMonagle, Ryan (Erica) Pechacek, and Nicholas Krebsbach; and six great-grandchildren: Colby, Braden, Andy, Jacob, Fiadh, and Sadhbh.

Of all the things Dody treasured throughout her 93 years, family was at the very heart of her life. She loved her family deeply and often spoke about how grateful she was for each and every one of them. She took great joy in watching her family grow through the generations and in simply being together with the people she loved. Some of her happiest adventures were the cruises she took with her family.

Dody loved the holidays, but more than that, she made the holidays special. She decorated her home for nearly every one of them and loved the traditions and family gatherings that came along with each season. Those celebrations became part of the memories she created for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. No gathering was quite complete without some of Grandma’s treats, especially her famous Rice Krispie bars made with her special addition of peanut butter—a family favorite that will forever taste like home.

Dody worked at Coast to Coast Hardware for 20 years and was a longtime member of both the VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary in Austin. She also spent many years participating in bowling leagues at Austin Bowl and Echo Lanes, where her 16-pound! bowling ball could be surprisingly effective.

She loved bingo, cards, dice, games, and just about anything that involved a little friendly competition, and somehow, Dody seemed to possess more than her fair share of luck. Whether it was bingo or a family game, it was probably wise not to bet against her—especially at Yahtzee.

Dody will be remembered for living a full and vibrant life centered around family, the friendships she made, the fun she had, the holidays she made special, and most especially for the family she loved so dearly. Her 93 years brought together children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will carry her love, her stories, her traditions, and countless memories of her with them.

Dody is survived by her five children; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephew, Dick (Sandy) Kos; niece, Cheryl Jordan Spite; and sister-in-law, Angela Hall.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence “Fritz” Krebsbach; her parents, James and Agnes Kos; her in-laws, Aloysius and Sadie Krebsbach; her brother, Richard Kos; and her son-in-law, Dale Pechacek.

A Celebration of Life honoring Dody will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Hormel Historic Home in Austin, Minnesota.

Dody will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Fritz, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with services held Monday, October 19, 2026, at 9:15 a.m. meeting in Assembly Area #6.
