Donna Mae Haas

Donna M. Haas, age 94, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away quietly in her sleep on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by love and at peace. Mother and daughter were able to spend precious time together during Donna’s last year.

Donna Mae Miller was born on January 7, 1932, in rural Lyle, Minnesota, to William and Bessie (Smalley) Miller. She attended Austin High School. On March 13, 1954, Donna was united in marriage to LaVern C. Haas at the First United Methodist Church in Austin, where they remained lifelong members. The couple was married 62 years until LaVern’s passing in 2016. Together they enjoyed traveling to Red Wing to see the leaves change in the fall and they enjoyed many fishing excursions together.

Donna loved to dance - when she was young, she was always at the Terp where she met LaVern. She continued to dance through life - always dancing a polka when celebrating with family. Donna was a busy homemaker who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and her last creative passion was coloring class at First United Methodist Church.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Linda (Dennis) Sershen; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Jon) Bueckers, Shawn (Bridget) Moon, and Heath Sershen; four great-grandchildren, Therin and Aries Bueckers, and Starker and Alina Sershen; brother, Don Miller; sisters, Joan (Lee) Barington, Patty Mortenson, and Betty (Dave) Neus; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bessie Miller; sister-in-law, Marlyce Miller; brother-in-law, Larry Mortenson; and nephew, Michael Mortenson.

A funeral service for Donna will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Austin. Visitation will take place from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
