Donald Eugene Starry Sr.

Donald Eugene Starry Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 1, 2026. He was reunited with his wife, Beverlee Ann, whom he missed and loved very much.

Donald was born on December 3, 1944, in Riceville, Iowa, to Myron and Edith (VanSyoc) Starry. He grew up in McIntire, Iowa, alongside his three sisters and two brothers, and enjoyed his friends in the McIntire community. He was baptized and confirmed in the McIntire Methodist Church. Donald graduated from Riceville High School in 1963.

In 1964, Donald met the love of his life, Beverlee Ann Haskin, while cruising up and down Main Street in Austin, Minnesota. On June 12, 1965, they were united in marriage at First United Methodist Church in Austin. Beverlee was a wonderful wife and was born on Donald’s father Myron’s birthday in 1941. Together they were blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and four great‑grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Donald worked for Marvin Aulwes Tiling, VCBenderoff, A&S Parts and Machine, Hormel Foods for 39½ years, as well as Viracon and QPP. He also sold real estate. He loved the Lord and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Austin. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his family. He was a Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan and could fix anything with whatever he had. Donald had a lifelong friend, Bill Feaker, who was born on Donald’s mother’s birthday in 1944.

Survivors include his sons, Don (Joni) Starry and Dan (Jeanice) Starry; his daughter, Jacqueline Starry; six grandchildren: Justin, Alli (Ben) Zeece, Bethany (Zach) Brown, Courtney (Zack) Opheim, Megan (Dante) Carlson, and Jaedyn Starry (Thor); four great‑grandchildren: Theodore, Sophia, Maisie, and Oliver, and one on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis (Theresa) Starry; sister, Mary (Roger) Hultman; sister‑in‑law, Marlys Starry; in‑laws, Ernest (Cecil) Haskin, James Haskin, and Sharron Haskin; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; friends; and his best lifelong friend, Bill (Cindy) Feaker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverlee Ann; his parents, Myron and Edith Starry; sisters, Maxine (Floyd) DeVries and Berniece (Clyde) Walker; brother, Robert Starry; an infant brother; father‑in-law and mother‑in‑law, Ernest and Vesta Haskin; in‑laws, Lloyd (Marcella) Haskin, Dorothy (Harvey) Todalen, Eleanor (Fred) Lickteig, Marian Lickteig, Kenneth Haskin, Arlis (Ronald) Snyder, Jean Haskin, Velma (Donald) Bonnerup, Rose Haskin, Harold (Jeanne) Haskin, Sharon Haskin; nephews, Ron Snyder Jr. and Steven Vogelsang; and niece, Connie Hines.

The family wishes to thank Sacred Heart Care Center and Mayo Clinic Hospice for the excellent care they gave Donald.

Donald was grateful to the Lord for his good life and his wonderful bride. Blessed be his memory.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Austin, Minnesota. The visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Worlein‑Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
