Donald “Don” Dean Schocker, Jr., age 66, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, at The Cedars of Austin. Don was born June 9, 1959, in Austin, Minnesota, to Charleen (Pike) Reed. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Richard Reed. Don graduated from Austin High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He worked for 31 years at Ready Mix Concrete. On May 31, 1996, Don married Christine Gilbertson in Jamaica. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Austin and was actively involved in the National Rifle Association and the Wounded Warrior Project. Don loved action movies, especially “Iron Man” and Sean Connery’s “Goldfinger.” He found joy in shooting at the Cedar Valley Conservation Club and enjoyed building and maintaining his guns. He took pride in his yard and was an aspiring handyman and BBQ cook. Beneath his tough exterior was a warm heart, one that embraced his family with love. Don was a true superhero to his children and loved ones.
Survivors include his stepfather, Richard Reed; children, Joshua Schocker and McKenzie (Bryce) Gerber; grandchildren, Mic Schocker, Parker Medina, Madison Schocker, Mallory Schocker, Mariana Schocker, Morgan Schocker, Joshua Schocker; and brother, David (Anna) Schocker. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charleen Reed; wife, Christine; sister, Wendy (Dan) Wessels.
A funeral service for Don will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Austin. Memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
