Diane "Ma" Adele Trytten

Diane “Ma” Adele Trytten, age 85, of Lyle, Minnesota, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family. Diane was born on May 9, 1938, to Grace and Arthur Brecke in New Richland, MN. She attended school until eighth grade in New Richland. When she finished eighth grade, she stayed home to work on the family farm and helped raise her siblings. Diane married Roger Trytten on May 10, 1958, when she was twenty years old. She and Roger moved to Albert Lea, MN where they gave birth to their two children, Randy and Robin. In 1965, they bought their farm on the State Line Road near Lyle, MN. In 1982, they moved to Carpenter, IA. Diane moved to Lyle, MN in 1997 where she lived for the rest of her life, and she became a well-known, memorable member of the community.

Diane worked a variety of different jobs throughout her adult life and fostered many children throughout the years, including Dean Christianson, who became another son to Roger and Diane. She retired from Hormel Foods in the plant in 2002 after twenty years. Being the hard worker she was, Diane couldn’t handle not working. She immediately started working at the Lyle School in the cafeteria in 2002. She retired (again) in the spring of 2021 from the school at the age of 83.

Diane had a smile that would light up any room she walked into. She loved her family more than anything and loved spending time with them. She had a passion for gardening and spent many, many hours working in her beautiful yard and at the Memory Garden in Lyle with Betty Fisher. She was a member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church. She enjoyed helping Robin at Lyle Liquor. She could usually be found stocking food in the back, cleaning, delivering the food or just talking with customers. In her younger years, Diane enjoyed Polka dancing, snowmobiling, and visiting with friends and family.

Survivors include her children, Randy (Deanna) Trytten, Robin (Jeff) Meyer, and Dean (Lisa) Christianson; grandchildren, Amber (Zach) Witt, Misti (Ryan) Hill, Mitch (Brooke Lauren) Trytten, Mitchell Boerjan, and Haley (Nate) Williamson; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brothers, Richard Brecke and Gary (Alice) Brecke; sister, Jane (Wayne) Sommars; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Grace Brecke; husband, Roger Trytten; infant daughter; grandson, Kyle Trytten; and great grandson, Bentley Boerjan.
