Delores Merlene Sorensen

Delores Merlene Sorensen, age 92, of Dexter, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at The Cedars of Austin. Delores was born August 5, 1933, to Merl and Elsa (Braun) Schear in Hayward, Minnesota. She graduated from Elkton High School in 1951. Delores was united in marriage to Myron Sorensen on July 31, 1965. Together, they made their home on a farm near Dexter, where they farmed side by side. Delores was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elkton. She cherished her family and was known for hosting joyful gatherings, ensuring no one left her home hungry. Delores had a passion for cake decorating and was always ready with a warm pot of coffee for her guests.

Survivors include her nieces, Joanne Struthers and Laurie (Lonnie Brown) Sorensen; and many nieces, nephews, and loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Elsa Schear; husband, Myron; and sister, Charlotte.

A memorial service for Delores will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Preston. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
