David W. Stigney

David W. Stigney, age 79, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin. Dave was born on March 26, 1947, to Donald and Herta Stigney in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Dave attended Pacelli High School, St. Thomas, Austin Community College, and Winona State University.

Dave was an accomplished artist. His hobbies included Fox News, fishing, and art. He held many jobs including upholstery, manager of Winona Arms, factory work, managing a laundromat in Berryville, AR, and Green View in Jackson, MN. David married Cheryl Farnsworth and they combined their families. David loved his family and was always willing to help them. He struggled with health issues but maintained a positive attitude.

Dave is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sisters, Mira Romero, Terry (Richard) Lamaack, and Connie Wachlin; brother, Tom (Eila) Stigney; children, Scott Southwick, Jeana Stigney, and Scott Stigney; stepchildren, Lisa (Paul) Sangineto, Kris Maier, and Laura (Bobby) Gladden. Dave has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Herta; sisters, Gloria and Linda; brother, Don Jr.; stepsons, Chad Dennison and Stephen Dennison; stepdaughter, Vicki Ann Powell; sisters-in-law, Vonda Buzzeta and Vickie Waltz; brothers-in-law, Andy Buzzeta, William Wachlin, and Larry Waltz; and son-in-law, Luverne Maier.

We cherish our memories and will miss Dave until we meet again. Many thanks to the staff at Sacred Heart and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care.

A celebration of David's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Crane Chapel in Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
