David Allan Smith

David Allan Smith, age 77, passed away in Albert Lea, Minnesota at Good Samaritan Society, on June 3, 2026. He passed peacefully in his sleep. David was born October 29, 1948. His parents were Vernon W. Smith and Evelyn Langfald Smith. He is survived by siblings, Roxann Crane, Pam O’Leary, Gregory Smith, Valerie Rogers, Doug Smith, and Loraine Cole. David was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Sweazy Smith; his, brother Vance Smith; and his parents.

David was a graduate of Austin High School, class of 1967. After high school David enlisted in the Navy and proudly served in Viet Nam. He had a lifetime marriage with Sue Sweazy. David worked for many years as a maintenance engineer for a power company in Montana. David was known to be happiest while singing in choirs or solo in church, and especially enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He loved developing large gardens producing vegetables for himself and friends. His garden provided the opportunity to operate his tractor, yet another of his loves of mechanical things. Woodworking was a particular joy for him. He received great joy for many years from his several cats upon whom he doted. David generously contributed to various organizations and was proud to be a Navy veteran.

A memorial service for David will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 at Faith Baptist Church in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
