David John Igou

David John Igou, age 73, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at his home. Dave was born on December 21, 1952, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Donald and Geneva (Bies) Igou. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1970 followed by Austin Vo-Tech where he studied to be an automotive mechanic. On September 15, 1973, Dave married his high school sweetheart, Denise Ann Olsen. The couple made their home in the Austin area where Dave began working at UPS in Rochester and remained there until his retirement in 2015. He loved fishing anywhere the walleye were biting, traveling with close friends and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren, attending most of their activities and sporting events, saying it kept him young.

Dave is survived by his wife, Denise of Austin; mother, Geneva Igou of Austin; children, Jeremy (Rochelle) of Austin, Leah (Jeremy) Taylor of Cottage Grove, and Scott (Deb) of St. Ansgar, Iowa; grandchildren, Kole (Kylah) Igou, Kaden Igou, and Kiya (Logan) Retterath all of Austin, Lauren and Lucas Taylor both of Cottage Grove, and Kasey, Desirae, and Mason Igou all of St. Ansgar; great-grandchildren, Paisley Igou, Beckett Retterath, and two more on the way; siblings, Deb Erie, Richard (Marcia) Igou, and Dan (Amy) Igou. He is preceded in death by father, Donald Igou; brother-in-law, Vance Erie; and other family members and friends.

The memorial service for Dave will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin with Fr. James Berning officiating. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Austin. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
