Clifford Leo Sadler, age 84, of Rose Creek and formerly Rochester, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, surrounded by family at Good Samaritan Society – Comforcare in Austin. Cliff was born on October 29, 1941, in Monticello, Iowa, to Joe and Laurene (Koob) Sadler. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Monticello. On September 10, 1966, Cliff was united in marriage to Judith Mary Schmit at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Mary. Cliff worked many jobs over the years including driving school buses, milk and LP trucks, and farming. He retired from St. Marys Hospital after 25+ years as a maintenance engineer. Cliff loved being outside, doing yard work, riding his John Deere Gator around town and riding his John Deere lawn tractor. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Cliff and Judy owned many different types of campers, fishing, and pontoon boats. The memories his grandchildren have of their time spent with him on the pontoon will always be something they hold close to their hearts. He was never one to sit still; he had his own chair at Wendels Auto Repair in Rose Creek and could be found there daily visiting with everyone.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Judy of Rose Creek; daughter, Mary (Bob) Weisert of Austin; grandchildren, Lindsey (Kyle) Bredeson of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Nathan (Chloe) Weisert of San Diego, California, and Collin Weisert of Austin, Texas; one great-grandchild on the way; sister, Carol (Chuck) McGowan of Hiawatha, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Sieverding, of Cascade, Iowa and Jeanne Sadler of Cascade, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, his cat, Millie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Laurene; and brothers and sister-in-law, John, Bob and Shirley, and Charlie Sadler.
The memorial service for Cliff will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin with Fr. Thien Nguyen officiating. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
