Bruce David Meres

Bruce David Meres, age 73, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Bruce was born on December 4, 1952, Ottumwa, Iowa, to Leslie and Laura “Evelyn” (Peterson) Meres. He graduated from Austin High School in 1970. Following graduation, Bruce was drafted into the Vietnam War, serving in Germany as a mechanic. He worked at Ulland Brothers in Albert Lea for 35 years until his retirement in 2014. Bruce loved his dog, Roxie, and took great pride in taking care of his yard and home. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events. He will be greatly missed.

Bruce is survived by children, Jeremie (Kayla Kenworthy) Meres of Blooming Prairie, Joshua (Kelly) Meres of Brownsdale, and Jennifer (Josh) Novak of Blooming Prairie; grandchildren, Brayden Meres, Mila and Owen Meres, and Alexys and Tayler Novak; sister, Brenda (Dave) Spangenberg of Madison Lake, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Bob Ruble, Jim Ruble, Kelly (Jeff) Connelly, Shelley Janning, Amy (Dan) Rech, Dawn (John) Donahue, Joel (Jenni) Spangenberg; and beloved dog, Roxie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Evelyn; sisters, Peggy Meres and Donna Becker; best friend, Louie Ciola; and beloved cat, Momo.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A private interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Blooming Prairie Cancer Group in Bruce’s name, P.O. Box 6, Blooming Prairie, MN 55917. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
