Beverly "Bev" Joanne Meyer

Beverly “Bev” Joanne Meyer, age 91, passed away on February 5, 2026, at The Cedars of Austin, surrounded by love and family. Bev was born on May 3, 1934, in Austin, Minnesota, to Fred and Mary (Huffman) Schocker.

Bev graduated from Austin High School and went on to work at Hormel in the corporate office as an executive administrative assistant to the Vice President of Engineering. She was admired for her intellect, professionalism, and devotion to her work, and she dedicated 34 years to the company.

Bev married Richard “Dick” Leo Meyer in April 1955. During their life together, Bev converted to Catholicism and remained a devoted Catholic throughout her life—something that brought Dick great joy. Dick passed away in 1991, after a long battle with cancer. Dick was the love of her life, and their years together brought her deep joy.

Bev and Dick welcomed four sons—Doug, Greg, Jeff, and Steve—over the span of four years. Raising the four "Meyer boys” took real grit and dedication, and Bev met that challenge the way she met everything in life: with hard work, high standards, and a determination to do things well. She loved the arts, had a deep interest in genealogy and family history, and was an avid reader with a special fondness for Jane Austen novels. Bev was also a deeply loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and she was dearly loved by her children and grandchildren. Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Meyer, her parents, Mary and Fred Schocker, her sister, Mable Hjelmen, and her brothers, Donald and Harley Schocker.

She is survived by her sons Doug (Michelle) of Lone Tree, CO; Greg (Joanne) of Edina, MN; Jeff (Leslie) of Kirkland, WA; and Steve of Austin, MN; her brother, Dale Schocker of Austin, MN; eight grandchildren, Dustin (Gretchen) of Edmonds, WA; Ryan (Jeremy) of Austin, TX; Sam of Edina, MN; Jake (SarahLynn) of Windsor, CO; Chase of Kirkland, WA; Dan (Hannah) of Minneapolis, MN; Kylie of Denver, CO; and Paige (Dawson) of Austin, MN; and five great-grandchildren: Blair and Charli (Edmonds, WA), Eleanor and Evelyn (Windsor, CO), and Shay (Kirkland, WA).

Her love and strength will live on in all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Cedars of Austin for the great care they provided Bev during the last ~4 years of her life. She really appreciated all the friendships she made with her caregivers. We would also like to thank all the fantastic people at St. Croix Hospice for the extra love and care they provided to her in the last year of her life. Bev was fortunate to have a dedicated team that took such loving care of her. There is a special place in heaven for all of you and we sincerely appreciate what you all did for her.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin, with Father Thien Nguyen officiating. A reception will be held following the memorial at Bev’s home in the Woodhaven area of Austin at 3901 13th St. NE.
